Professor Ahmad Umar received his B.Sc. in biosciences and M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, India, and PhD in Semiconductor and Chemical Engineering from Chonbuk National University, South Korea. He worked as a Research Scientist at Chonbuk National University, South Korea during 2007–2008. Currently, he is the deputy director for the Promising Centre for Sensors and Electronic Devices (PCSED) and Centre for Advanced Materials and Nano-Research (CAMNR), Najran University, Najran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Professor Umar specializes in growth, properties and versatile applications of semiconductor nanostructures. He is well and focusing on surface science; nanostructures based gas, chemical and biosensors, optoelectronic devices, electronic devices, field effect transistors (FETs) and nanostructures-based energy harvesting devices such as solar cells and photocatalysis. He has authored and co-authored more than 250 publications, has an h-factor of 40 and more than 4,000 citations. He serves as Editor, Scientific Reports, (IF= 5.57), Editor, Journal of Nanosci. and Nanotech. (IF= 1.55), Editor-in-Chief, Science of Advanced Materials, (IF= 2.59) and Editor-in-Chief, J. Nanoelectronics and Optoelectronics (IF=0.385).
